Achieve a Beautiful, Yet Natural-looking Smile Enhancement with Porcelain Veneers
Do minor cosmetic imperfections in your smile make you feel self-conscious? Do you have otherwise healthy teeth affected by cracks, chips, or inconsistent shaping? Dr. Byron J. Nordhus offers porcelain veneers at his Wichita office, and this treatment can conceal most cosmetic issues. Best of all, this treatment can give you an amazing new smile in just a few weeks. Veneers are thin porcelain shells that cover the front surfaces of teeth to create a uniform, symmetrical appearance. Our trusted dental lab will customize your veneers to match the shade and size of your teeth, resulting in a natural-looking enhancement. Porcelain Veneers Candidates
Veneers are specifically designed to conceal a variety of minor cosmetic imperfections, including:
- Uneven spacing
- Misshapen Teeth
- Minor Misalignment
Porcelain veneers candidates should be in good oral health. During an initial exam, Dr. Nordhus will evaluate your teeth and gums. If you have any issues such as cavities or gingivitis, these should be addressed before moving ahead with veneers or any other cosmetic dental procedure.
Many patients prefer porcelain veneers to other cosmetic treatments because the procedure is minimally invasive. Once you have decided porcelain veneers are right for you, Dr. Nordhus will begin your treatment by preparing your teeth, which involves removing some tooth enamel to make room for the veneer. The amount of enamel removed is usually equal in thickness to an egg shell. This can usually be performed under local anesthesia. However, we also offer oral sedatives and IV sedation, depending upon your needs.
After your teeth have been prepared, Dr. Nordhus will use our iTero™ intraoral scanner to take a digital, three-dimensional image of your teeth to ensure your veneers will fit properly. Our off-site laboratory will use these digital impressions to craft your veneers to match the shade and size of your natural teeth. This process usually takes about three weeks. In the meantime, we can provide temporary veneers. Once your permanent veneers are ready, you will return to our office. Dr. Nordhus will bond the veneers to your teeth with special dental cement, and secure the bond with a curing light.
Some patients choose to make porcelain veneers part of a smile makeover plan. In other cases, patients may choose to undergo teeth whitening or laser gum reshaping before receiving veneers in order to achieve a more comprehensive cosmetic enhancement. You will have an opportunity to fully explain your goals to Dr. Nordhus during your initial consultation, and he can recommend complementary treatments to help you achieve the smile you envision.
