Periodontal disease is a disease of the gum tissues that supports the teeth, the supporting structures of the teeth. It's a bacterial infection under the gum line and around the roots of the teeth that if left unchecked, will cause the bone to resorb away and patients that subsequently lose their teeth over time. Periodontal therapy is the treatment process of removing that diseased tissue or that bacteria under the gum line to help restore and bring those tissues back to health. In our office for periodontal therapy, we do the deep cleaning in conjunction with the laser to help eliminate bacteria under the gum line. Those appointments are usually an hour or so in length. Most of our patients after have completed periodontal therapy will show improvements with their pocket depths, with their bleeding points which is an indication of bacteria or an indication of infection. Patients should consider having their periodontal therapy done here because we've got trained hygienists that are second to none. Our periodontal therapy is performed in conjunction with a CO2 laser to help reduce and eliminate bacteria in the pocket. Our hygienists do a great job of their follow-up care and their post-operative care to ensure that patients are progressing and improving as they should be after therapy.
